24th January
2009,
Saturday , 6pm

Due to
the overwhelming success of the 2008 Christchurch
Chinese New Year Celebration held last year,
we have decided to hold the 2009 Christchurch
Combined Chinese New Year celebration on 24
January 2009 to usher in the Year of the Ox.
It is our great pleasure to invite you to join us to
celebrate this auspicious occasion.
Groups participating in the 2009 Celebration are
members of Chinese associations and communities in
Christchurch, representing Chinese residents born in
New Zealand and also those migrated from Mainland
China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan,
Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and
Cambodia.
A good turnout is expected for the 2009 event as all
tickets were sold out last year. The number is
restricted to a maximum of
about
600 diners for the banquet and Chinese cultural performances.
The 2009 function will be held in the Hotel Grand
Chancellor at 161, Cashel Street, Christchurch. We
will
invite
the
Prime Minister,
Leader of the Opposition, Government
Ministers, Chinese Ambassador,
Mayor of
Christchurch,
local Members of Parliament, the
Governor of Guangdong Province in China and other
dignitaries.
A traditional New Year banquet will be served
followed by an exciting programme showcasing Asian
cultures and talents. The event will provide an
opportunity to share our cultures and tradition with
the wider Christchurch community, and to encourage
participation. We are keeping ticket prices
substantially below cost,
at
$50,
$40 and
$30
per person.
We hope you will join us in ushering in the Year of
the Ox!!
